Not that we don’t work every day, but today I’ve really got to get on the ball with cleaning and organizing. We are having a garage sale Friday as I need to finish converting my garage for dog/kennel space and it is still filled up with too much crap. Looking around, I have a messy kitchen, laundry to be done, the list goes on forever. I have to designate one or two areas at a time or I end up doing a little here and a little there. I hate that. So today I started with the dog room. Crates need to be removed, disinfected, bedding cleaned, baseboards and walls cleaned, floors swept and mopped. With more than one female in season, keeping up with the floors is a constant battle.
It seems that I am spending more time in my car than home lately. Driving kids here, dropping off, picking up, etc. In just a few minutes I will have to head out again, drive down South about 45 minutes and run another errand. By the time I get done with that, it will be time to pick up the little one from her summer program, get home and get dinner started and get a move on the evening wind-down.
So far I’ve managed to get one crate outside and cleaned. With it being so hot outside it doesn’t take very long for it to dry, but the grooves in the stall matting I use makes it take a little longer. The floor has been swept and mopped in there and the walls cleaned (slobber and hair go everywhere) with a vinegar and water mixture and the final touch is a once over with a eucalyptus/spearmint/water mix for a nice fresh smell. Thank goodness for that and scented wax melts! I won’t be able to start on the other crates until I get back.
It’s been raining a lot lately so the outdoor dog areas have been challenging to clean. The poo gets pounded into the sand by the rain and then you end up picking up a bunch of sand all around it to make sure you got everything. I really do need to finish that space. I got to a certain point (fencing re-done) and with upcoming show entries and other things, I got side tracked and haven’t finished. I need to put something out there to cover up our Florida sand. The dogs drag it in all day long. One thing at a time, I suppose.
